Thanks fellas I really do feel blessed to have stumbled upon this set - I actually stumbled upon two kits at the same place - the other one was monster 1976 Chrom Owood wrap kit with 10 drums in it including a 6 1/2 Supra Super Sensitive! I've never seen the real calfskin heads on a complete kit like this before, man they sound so warm and beautiful its amazing. The tom calfskin heads are WFL but the two bass drum heads are calfskin Gretch Broadcasters - complete with crayon marks on the res side. It's a shame someone drilled that bass and tom for that import tom holder. The hoops on these probably resemble the finish used on barhroom hardware. o K I've included pics of just snare so far but promise to add the rest of the set 22" 16" 12" all in white marine pearl OK I can't resist how much is the drum worth....sorry could not help myself Very cool set you have there, looks a little mismatched with the later bass drum but you might find an earlier one down the road.Nothing sounds like those old mahogany ply drums, I love 'em.I wiped it down, but i absolutely love that vintage - dull nickel look! There are a few manufactures (Ludwig is one, i think) that offer import drums is a "vintage" or "brushed" nickel style of hardware instead of chrome..is probably less costly to produce than decent quality chrome plating. Ray Mc Kinley late 40's-early-50's...catalog kit would be a Buddy Rich 26,13,16 w/That 6.5x14 Ray Mc Kinley(check out my pics)great drums WFL are the best..so well...shells leveled and trued, nice lite/brittle mahogany, tight wrap, best NOB lugs, hoops and tension rods..quality WFL parts!!!
I've been looking around for catalog pages that might show this drum but WFL catalog pics seem more difficult to find that Ludwig catalog pages. I've included some pictures of the actual set here 22" 16" 13" - there is some rust and the nickel all needs cleaning but over all in decent shape. As someone said about my WMP kit, "It's not yellowed... I think the Ray Mc Kinley, later called Symphonic, snares go for around $400.00 to $600.00 depending on the condition, not exactly sure?Great sounding snare drums, big tuning range and a fat tone.By clicking or navigating the site, you agree to allow our collection of information on and off Facebook through cookies.
